Mag Photos

In this photo , mid long shot angled to show the motion  of the game and to give emphasize  how difficult when your inside the basketball court while competing with other opponents.
This is in a little bit low long angled shot , to show the audience that the player is making a lay up and give more emphasize to his airness or elevation while making the lay up .On the other side , this gives more feelings of joy, glad and happiness to the player who makes the shot .And in this way the audience will feel the same .

This shot is Mid shot to show the after game ethics that their going to take a vow to their opponent to emphasize respect to each other even though they're in different culture but their respect for each other is huge .

After all this battling to each other , I took a high angled master shot to show that even they fight for the ball inside the court they still care and love for each other as brothers . So after the game , they huddle and give thanks to one another and to God for guiding each and everyone  who is playing.

Flat Plans for Front Cover ,Content page, Double spread sheet

Front Cover
In this front cover flat plan , I draw the usual and very simple type of front cover layout because this type of lay out is very effective and almost all of the magazine uses this layout and to give the basic generic convention of the magazine .

Content Page
This layout for the content page is very unique and it has three columns that is more on pictures to emphasize every article in the magazine .

Double Spread Sheet
In this DPS ,  I divided into four columns and put a pull quote in the middle of it to give some description for the main top image . And the main image is huge to give emphasize on what's happening in the article and the rest is typical generic codes and convention.

The first photo is taken from a mid camera angled shot so this represents the equality of each and every students in the world and to show the identity if being a student because he is wearing the school uniform . However he is holding a basketball that connotes he is a student - athlete , and being student athlete is not easy to be with because it takes a lot of discipline , hard work and dedication in both academics and being an athlete .
The second picture is the same mid camera angled shot  .However the contrast is about being different from bright and excellent student . This shows that he is a rebel because of his look and the basketball is his only way to escape from his reality .

In This Issue

The masthead is usually on the top left of the content and it says "IN THIS ISSUE" in a black capitalised slant font to seen clearly by the audience and it is slanted to show that the test is in motion like the main image and secondary image . Literally saying what's inside the magazine's issue.

It is divided into 4 columns to sort out the different pages in different kind of sports or topic . The title of each page is in color red to show how passionate and how love on what are the students are doing and the audience will catch their eyes about the titles and they are in the middle to show how important of each article . The subtitle tells a little description on what's inside of every pages. On the right side  are other featured contents of the magazine just to sort out which is which less important.

The main image is a basketball player and he is in a defensive stance to show that he can defend his school from other school .It is placed in the middle to show that playing basketball is important and on his left side says the title of the article "SHOWDOWN". The camera angle is from long shot to create impact to the audience how good he is on playing defense that connotes that he will catch no matter what.
The secondary image on the top right is a girl playing a basketball , Lauren Stodola , sophomore guard . that holds the ball and connotes that nobody is going the ball from me .

The bottom part is about the sponsors and Kids Club to promote Krispy Kreme that there's a free day day of fun for children 12 & under . To let the audience know about this fun day for kids . Blumler and Katz : to inform the audience about the special day for kids.

In The Paint Content Analyse

Masthead : The mast head is"In The Paint" which is on the top left corner of the page and it is in a large text in a white not finished paint texture of color so this gives a unique taste of being unfinished  because there's a bit of black spots in the middle of "the" shows that the painter didn't complete his doing like the main image he is not yet finish shooting the ball hard . the color is white to project neutrality , precision, and sterility.

Main Image : Chris Paul is the main image that is taking a floater shot, one of his signature moves , this shows whats his features and his face reaction is mad and game face throughout the game because Chris is fearless beyond his opponent and he is one of the best point guard in the world . He is wearing his away jersey from Hornets that is yellow to show the sign that alerts the audience to danger or caution.

Contents: The main contents of the page is the feature roster it means in terms of sport it is the list or plan showing the turns of duty for individuals . Which shows the actual features inside the magazine . The column is on the left side because we starts writing from the left and the font color is white to stand out the background color and to see the text clearly . The Page number 50 is highlighted with a red underline to show about the main image Chris Paul is always strong leader on and off the court .

Barely Bikinis

Masthead :The masthead is Sports Illustrated that is usually at the top part of the magazine which represents the brand and this will create the brand image of the magazine , this will be recognised by the audience easily. The masthead is in a block bold white letters is associated with light , goodness, purity, and virginity that symbolizes angels from heaven and it reflect the main image. It is considered to be the color of perfection that is related to the main image that reflects to the audience perspective .

Skyline: the skyline is on the top of the masthead and this is about the NFL cheerleaders make their swimsuit debut that is related to the main image as well and there's a secondary image on the top left corner to show the debut of the NFL cheerleaders and to attract more male audience. The color of the text is the same as the masthead that means they have the same connotation of the reflection of the main image as well . And the seductive pose of the secondary image will make the audience buy the magazine because if it .

Main Image : the main image is Marisa Miller -is an American model and actress best known for her appearance in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue .The main image is usually in the middle of the of the magazine , the camera shot featured of our model in a medium long shot at an eye level angle . I feel this camera shot angle has been used so the audience can clearly see the models face and importantly the sexy body clearly to further attract them to the magazine if seen from afar . he photography techniques used are key in keeping all the attention on our main image  as she is in full focus from top to mid  and no part of her is out of focus , all attention is on her . And the lightning is used well and its in high intensity to keep more attention on her curves around her enormous chest the all men wants to see and grab .

The magazine displays a female model, but not just any female, a young , sexy and seductively dressed and posed model instead of an boring male athlete .the main image is wearing nothing but a lot of blue stone necklace to hide her nipple and blue with white lining underwear . She's wearing blue stone necklace to represent love, commitment, and fidelity

Her pose is very seductive and glamour in which the attractive or exciting quality that a certain people for example teenagers, men 20 years old and up, and some models seems appealing . That will catch our eyes even when their away from it . And their beautiful natural curves of her body that our eyes naturally seek them out and it empowers the elegant of her beauty . The mode of address is directly to the audience to attract more target audience and her stare is saying like she wants to have sex to the audience, because her hand is stripping her panty down which connotes that she's a stripper type of girl .

I Believe I can Flaaaaaaaay

Masthead: the masthead is Sports Illustrated in orange block letters which means it combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation .And has very high visibility, so you can use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of the text.

To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red. orange is symbolic of strength and endurance .Orange relates to 'gut reaction' or our gut instincts, as opposed to the physical reaction of red or the mental reaction of yellow. It offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief. Orange brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life and is a great color to use during tough times, keeping us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life.In relation to the meaning of colors, orange is extroverted and uninhibited, often encouraging exhibitionism or, at the very least, showing-off! like the main image .The text of the masthead is in block letters which means that they are big , powerful , dominant and etc.

Main Image: The main image is Kevin Durant himself with a white towel on his head and lifting up his both arms in the middle of front cover of the magazine . Surrounded by the anchorage text behind him with a set of blue quotation mark. He is in his away Oklahoma City Jersey which represents his team with the color blue which is associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes the trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth of Kevin Durant to his team and how he play basketball . It produces a calming effect but in this photo Kevin is not calm, he is celebrating and wild ,contrasting the color to his feelings. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility . In heraldry, blue is used to symbolize piety and sincerity.

His both arms are lifting up to represent wings because he believes he can fly that means in basketball term he can jump higher than everyone else so he can dunk, take a jump shot , rebound and lots more even though he is not that mascular type of player. And there's a white towel in his head to dry up his sweat because he is in the bench to rest for a little bit and the towel is sponsored by Gatorade . The white towel shows the purification of his thoughts and actions , encourages him to clear his mind or any obstacles , and to enables him have a new and fresh beginning in the game . His feelings reflects to the masthead which is aggressive to show how powerful ,strong he is and how strong his fate to fly.

Kevin Durant wears the number 35 in honor of his childhood coach, Charles "Chucky" Craig. Craig was murdered at the age of 35 and Durant has worn that number ever since.

Skyline: There are two different articles in skyline. Both of them has orange small font for heading ,it is orange to show that both articles are relevant to Sports Illustrated and to show importance even though it is in small font . And the subheading is in smaller white font to be seen clearly by the audience . The first article is about Mike Brown and The Cleveland Cavaliers ,and tells about you can't have nice things is about the Cleveland has a lot of super star players and yet they did not get the Championship title in the NBA playoffs last 2007 against the San Antonio Spurs with Coach Gregg Popovich . And the Spurs swept the Cavaliers 4-0, that was not a nice thing for Coach Mike Brown.

And the second article is about Hasheem Thabeet wearing a balloon hat that represents the hat for Drafting in NBA and the Love story represent his relationship to his coach, Coach Cal. The bAlloon hats and nachos emphasizes about his celebration to his NBA drafting .All of the draft sites list Theebz as a surefire Top 5, Top 3 pick. So it's a matter of where he gets drafted instead of if.

Anchorage Text : The Anchorage text is 'I BELIEVE I CAN FLAAAAAAAAAHHH I BELIEVE I CAN TOUCH THE SKY'. With extra large and bright font behind Kevin Durant , to get the attention of the audience not only the fans of Kevin Durant but also the fans of music because the anchorage text is the title and lyrics from the song I Believe I Can Fly. The language that is used in the anchorage text is hyperbolic words for the fly to exaggerated the words to grab the readers attention . And they used the text to emphasize the emotion and the feeling of the main image Kevin Durant. He is in a white towel to dry up his sweat while he is in the bench and to show that he is an American Eagle that is flying . In Reality , he is just soaring his arms out to celebrate and his face reaction is madly happy and he's like singing I belive I can fly. There's a little text in the bottom left corner to show his name and under it describes that he believes he can fly , it is in a small text because the main image already describes whats his doing and there's supporting text behind him , just to show a little description in the bottom left corner.
